Quăng Lưới - "Casting the Net" - shows a lone fisherman in a small boat on calm water at golden hour, mid-cast with a large circular fishing net suspended in the air above him. The net dominates the foreground, its amber and ochre tones glowing warmly against a luminous yellow sky. The figure, tiny beneath it and wearing a traditional conical hat, is a familiar image of everyday Vietnamese river life rendered with a painterly, almost dreamlike quality.
The square format suits the composition well - sky and water mirror each other in warm yellows and soft teals, with the net and its reflection forming a natural focal point at the centre. The light is the real subject here: a low sun dissolving into haze, colouring everything gold. The brushwork in the sky is loose and expressive, while the net is handled with more precision, giving it a delicate, translucent quality.
A warm and contemplative work that suits a living room, study, or bedroom equally well. The golden palette pairs naturally with timber floors, cream or sandy walls, and natural linen. It is the kind of painting that is easy to live with - calm without being dull, familiar without being sentimental.
This original painting is shipped as a rolled canvas - unframed and unstretched. Rolling is the safest and most practical way to transport original artwork internationally, ensuring the painting arrives in perfect condition.
Upon receiving your painting, you will need to take it to a local framer or canvas stretching service, who will mount it onto a wooden stretcher frame. Once stretched, the painting can be hung as is or placed into a frame of your choice. This is a routine service offered by most framers.
Please note that stretching and framing costs are not included in the purchase price. We recommend budgeting an additional amount for this step - costs vary by canvas size and location. If you have any questions about the process or would like advice on finding a framer, please get in touch before purchasing.
